Rock Island SD45 4553 from a Kato Model

Yes, I am aware that Rock Island never had any SD45's. I am also aware the road numbers are in the GP7 class. I didn't pick the unit numbers. However, someone obviously wanted them:-)
These units started out as factory painted Kato SD45's that were sent my way...I dismantled, stripped, redetailed and repaired, abrasivized and repainted these units. Added were plows, mu hoses, cut bars, firecracker antennas, new horns, new grabs, ACI tag holders, eyebolts, speed recorders and so on.
The painting was done with custom mixed Scalecoat II for the yellow and red over gray primer than white. The underframes were painted with Scalecoat II NYC dark gray.
The decals are microscale from several different sets, and the entire unit was semiglossed with half Testor's glosscoat and half Testor's dullcoat thinned with lacquer thinner.
Pity The Rock never had any of these...the SD45 carbody looks awesome in this paint scheme.
