Rock Island GP7m 1275 from a Life Like Proto 2000 GP7 model.
In real life, Rock Island GP7m was a wreck repair. It recieved an entire new front end from EMD. At the time of the repair, EMD was producing the GP20, so 1275 got a GP20 front end. To copy the prototype, I grafted the front nose, cab and walkway section from a Life Like P2k GP20 shell onto the LifeLike GP7 ph II shell. The front handrails were modified to fit the new front end. New footboards were added front and rear.
Added details include Details West firecracker antenna, plow, spark arrestors, speed recorder and 5 chime horn. Also, Detail Associate windshield wipers, MU hoses, eyebolts and Kadee 58 scale couplers were added. The seam on the stock fuel tank was filled and the side sill was modified to match the prototype.
Everything was abrasivized and washed with hot soapy water and then dried. The unit was primed with Floquil Primer, then scalecoat II. The yellow was a mix Scalecoat II reefer yellow and floquil UP Armor Yellow. The maroon was custom mixed Scalecoat. Black was Floquil engine black. Decals are Microscale. Unit was semi glossed with half Testor's dullcoat and half Testor's glosscoat mixed with lacquer thinner to seal the decals, then weathered, resealed and assembled.
