Iowa Chicago and Eastern SD 40-2 6440 from a Kato Model
This model was built from a Kato SD40-2 snoot nose variant because it best matched the prototype. The origional Kato
brake wheel was replaced with a Cannon and Company wheel, dynamic brake T-vent was replaced, lift rings, metal grabs, MU hoses, ditch light castings, spare knuckle holders and antennas
were added among other things. The unit was painted with Testors Model Master deep yellow for the yellow stripe, the blue is Testors Model Master Ford and GM engine blue. The black is floquil engine black. The decals are a mix of
Microscale decals and the ICE lettering was custom made. The overcoat is
half Testor's glosscoat and half Testor's Dullcoat thinned with lacquer thinner.
This unit has also had the mechanism hard wired, and has operating ditch lights.
Special thanks goes to Clair Downs for coming up with paint matches for this unit.
